Old Tucson (historically Old Tucson Studios) is a film studio and Western-themed entertainment/adventure park located just west of Tucson, Arizona. It was originally built in 1939 as a set for the 1940 film Arizona and went on to host scores of Western films and TV series, becoming one of the most prolific Western filming locations in the United States. Opened to the public as a theme park in 1960, it combines historical movie tours with live stunt shows, shootouts, and seasonal events such as Nightfall and Yuletide. The site has long doubled as both a tourist attraction and an active filming location, despite a major fire in 1995 that destroyed parts of the studio.
