Hackman Capital Partners is a Los Angeles-headquartered private real-estate investment firm, founded by Michael Hackman in 1986, that has become the dominant owner-operator of film and television studio real estate. Rather than a single lot, HCP controls a global platform of roughly 19 studios and 145-plus soundstages, operated through its production-services arm, The MBS Group, which it acquired in 2019 for $650 million. Its Los Angeles-area holdings include Television City, MBS Media Campus (Manhattan Beach), Radford Studio Center, Saticoy Studios, and a strategic venture with Raleigh Studios, alongside East Coast assets such as Silvercup and Kaufman Astoria and international stages in the UK and Ireland. The firm is widely credited with turning soundstage real estate into a recognized institutional asset class. HCP raised $1.6 billion in 2022 to expand its media-asset portfolio in major production markets worldwide.
