Walt Disney Studios
500 S BUENA VISTA ST, BURBANK, CA, 91521
The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank is a 51-acre studio lot that serves as the global headquarters of The Walt Disney Company. Financed by the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the lot was designed by industrial architect Kem Weber in the Streamline Moderne style and opened in early 1940, anchored by its distinctive 'double-H' Animation Building engineered to maximize natural light for artists. The lot houses administrative offices and seven sound stages; Stage 1 (1939–1940) is the original Disney soundstage, while Stage 3 (1953) was built with a deep water tank for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Every frame of the 1964 classic Mary Poppins was filmed on stages here, and Stage 2 was dedicated to actress Julie Andrews in 2001. The lot remains the operational center of Disney's media and entertainment empire.
