Reel Indian Pictures is a Native-owned video production company in Albuquerque with more than 20 years of experience. It is run by Diné filmmaker and novelist Ramona Emerson (author of Shutter and Exposure, and an assistant professor of film at UNM) and her husband and producing partner Kelly Byars, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The company creates award-winning documentaries, commercials, promotional videos, and event videography. Its storytelling focuses on contemporary Native life and works to redefine expectations of Native cultural identity beyond mainstream media portrayals.
