What does a Writer do?
Screenwriters create the material everything else exists to shoot. Employment on covered projects runs under WGA contracts, with credit determination handled by the guild. Membership is earned through accumulated writing work for signatory companies.
What does a Writer make?

How do you become a Writer?
Write the scripts that prove you can, then get them read: contests, fellowships, staffing programs, and assistant jobs adjacent to rooms all function as doors. In television, writers' assistant and script coordinator chairs are the established last step before staffing.
